Kampala is uniquely the capital city of Uganda and also a district on its own. It was originally built on 7 hills namely Namirembe, Rubaga, Nakasero, Makerere, Mengo, Kibuli and Old Kampala but has now greatly expanded and covers about 21 hills. The weather is usually warm due to its proximity to the Equator but can also get really cold and windy during the rainy season. Other than a few relatively quiet upscale areas in the city that mainly accommodate embassies, residencies, International schools and Telecommunication companies.
Kampala is known to be quite busy with boda bodas (Motorbikes) and Taxis driving up and down. Hawkers in designated areas can often be heard shouting at the top of their voices as they sell a vast variety of products ranging from fashionable clothing, shoes, snacks and electronic devices. There are a number of eateries that serve a variety of both Local and International cuisine; the deliciously made Luwombo and Rolex (Chapati and eggs) is highly recommendable. There are plenty of Cafes like Java House that serve a variety of tea, coffees, sweets and Cakes.
