Uganda Wildlife Authority

Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is a semi-autonomous government body tasked with conserving and managing Uganda's wildlife for the benefit of Ugandans and the rest of the world. After the merging of the Uganda National Parks and the Game Department in 1996, this organisation was formed. UWA is tasked with ensuring the long-term management of wildlife resources and supervising wildlife operations in Uganda, both inside and outside of protected areas. Over 10 national parks and 12 wildlife reserves are under its authority. It also oversees five community wildlife management zones and thirteen wildlife sanctuaries. UWA has played a key role in managing the country's tourist business and attracting investors to the sector. Poaching, rivalry in the regional tourism sector, human-wildlife conflict, and wildlife crimes are among the several difficulties confronting Uganda's management and protection of wildlife and biodiversity. Stakeholders, partners, and communities living near these protected areas have been enlisted to assist in addressing some of these challenges. The business has also established measures inside its management policies to assist in addressing some of these issues. Their main objective is to conserve, economically develop, and sustainably manage Uganda's wildlife and protected areas in collaboration with other communities and stakeholders for the benefit of Ugandans, tourism, and the global community. Their core corporate values like teamwork, quality services, commitment to conservation for the love of nature, customer care, integrity, and professionalism help them to achieve their organisations goals in an effective manner.
