Uganda, the pearl of Africa is a nature gifted country surrounded by water bodies, most of which are characterized by waterfalls. All water Falls are beautiful but Uganda has the world’s most amazing and beautiful waterfalls, offering a refreshing experience to those looking to relax, as well as breathtaking sceneries.
What makes them unique is the fact that they are accessible almost all through out the year. Nonetheless, they are best seen during Rainy seasons when water levels increase by a large margin. There are numerous waterfalls in the country, but what creates the thrill is the experience you get from visiting each one. We're listing for you a couple of them and the different activities to enjoy at these beautiful sites;-
Murchison Falls is the world's most powerful waterfall, famous for its 43m height. The most amazing view of the water fall is found at top of the falls where the sight and sound of the Nile crashing through a 6m wide gorge is a memorable assault on one’s senses as they fall into the Victoria Nile. However as the Nile explodes violently through the narrow 6m gorge and upstream, the Victoria Nile hurtles through the rift’s hinterland down an explosive 80km of rapids that rafters consider one of the world’s scariest sections of white water, providing a unique thrilling experience. Found on the Ssezibwa River, the Ssezibwa Falls drop over colorful quartzite rocks before dividing into two, which gives off a good view. Attached to traditional beliefs according to Baganda tradition, the story of how these Falls came into existence is quite interesting. It is believed that many hundred years ago, a woman from the Chibe (fox) clan of Buganda, called Nakangu, gave birth to twins. One of them was not human as naturally expected but instead a twin river – named Ssezibwa. Given the deeply imprinted African belief in the supernatural, the birth of twins in most Ugandan societies, Buganda inclusive, is regarded as a visitation of the gods. Twins are actually regarded a physical manifestation of the gods, and among others a spiritual benevolent reward.
