1. KAMPALA

Kampala, the “East Africa’s happiest city” is Uganda's capital and largest city. The city gets its name from a local Luganda – Lusoga language “Ejjinjawhich means 'Rock' or 'Stone'. The British used this reference to name the city they established as Jinja. Located 80Km away from Kampala – The capital city, Jinja is one of the most scenic towns in Uganda. The source of the Nile, Itanda Falls – the white water rapids, among other attractions, Jinja is one – stop tourist destination in the pearl of Africa.

The top attractions to visit in Jinja are; Source of the Nile Expedition, Itanda Falls, Speke Monument, Victoria Nile, Bujagali Falls, Ssezibwa Falls, and Nile Reptile Park. 4. FORT PORTAL

Fort Portal, the “Tourism city of Uganda” is located in the western region at the foot of Rwenzori Mountains. The city has many attractions, destinations and points of interests ranging from the stalagmites, waterfalls, to scenic crater lakes.

The city is named after Sir Gerald Portal, a British Special Commissioner for Uganda, whose statue graces the main road of the city. Situated between the Rwenzori Mountains, Kibale National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park, Fort Portal is a significant tourist destination city in Uganda.

The city has various attractions including the many crater lakes, Mt. Rwenzori ranges, Amabeere caves & sites (stalagmites and stalactites), River Mpanga, Nyakasura waterfalls, Tooro Botanical Gardens, Semliki valleys, among other attractions.

 

5. MBALE

Mbale, the “Cleanest city of Uganda” is located in Eastern Uganda at the outskirts of Mount Elgon - the mountain with the world’s largest caldera. Mbale is worth every single effort on any Uganda Safari. Tourists to Sipi Falls in Kapchorwa, or those hiking mountain Elgon never miss out the thrilling tour experiences in Mbale city. 

Staying in Mbale means sleeping and waking up to the beautiful sights of Mountain Elgon and having a fresh breath from the top of the mountain. It is positioned just a few miles from Lake Mburu National Park and on the way to Uganda’s popular parks, including Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi, and Mgahinga National Parks. Mbarara is usually an enroute stopover to or from these beautiful Ugandan national parks.

Mbarara is an important transport hub, about 270 kilometres by road, southwest of Kampala. It’s commonly known as the land of milk & honey because many of her residents keep the long horned cows for milk, and other products. Mbarara has many fancy restaurants to satisfy your hunger desires.
