Kenya is famous for its natural attractions and amazing wildlife, and visiting this wonderful country is the ultimate travel adventure. We bring to you a few things to keep in mind if you are to enjoy your travel and stay in Kenya. This safety guide will help make your Kenya expedition a success;

1. Travel Documents

Just like any other country in East Africa, a valid passport and travel visa are mandatory to almost everyone visiting Kenya. A certificate of yellow fever vaccination is also a necessity. All visitors should take malaria prophylactic drugs and vaccination for Malaria should be taken prior to travel in order to avoid inconveniences. Travelers are also advised to take their personal insurance before traveling to Kenya. Speak to us; our experienced travel experts will advise you on safe travel requirements.

2. Crime and Personal Safety – Don’t Draw Attention to Yourself

We advise travelers to exercise some degree of self-awareness. In this country, it’s unwise to draw unnecessary attention to yourself. For example, you shouldn’t wear flashy Jewelry or carry expensive items unless you need them on a safari. Such things will only make you a soft target for petty criminals. You can book private bodyguards with us to beef up your security in Kenya.

3. Covid-19 Safety Protocols

If you are travelling to Kenya during the COVID-19 pandemic take precautions to stay safe from the virus, be sure to check and follow all safety requirements. Take a COVID-19 Test before travel and keep a copy of your results with you when you travel as it's a requirement for entry into the Country. Wear a face mask on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation to stay safe as you travel. Speak to us, our support team will guide you on COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and requirements.

4. The Currency in Kenya

The Kenya Shilling is the official currency used in the Country; however, we advise that guests carry some US Dollars since some prices are quoted in USD. Use a Forex Exchange office in the main towns, for they have better exchange rates. Our dedicated security and personal guides will accompany you to the safety while exchanging the currency.

5. Road Safety

With a well-developed system of paved roads, you can take a high-speed train, taxi, a local bus or hire a car to drive through Kenya. While in the country, you are advised to follow traffic rules. In addition, wear your seatbelt and carry a valid drivers’ license with you in your vehicle always.
